What Content Gaps does
Content Gaps analyzes competitor rankings and local search demand, then surfaces article topics tailored to your market. Each topic is scored for traffic potential and ranking difficulty so you can prioritize what to write next. Every scan also includes mandatory neighborhood topics so you rank across all parts of your city, plus defensive topics that protect your brand when searchers compare options or look for "problems" in your category.
How to use Content Gaps
- Select your business at the top of the app.
- Click "Run Content Gaps scan" - the first scan is free; subsequent scans use 300 credits.
- Review topics in the results panel. Each topic shows title, primary keyword, category (Service + Location, Neighborhood, Defensive, Comparison, How-To), difficulty (LOW/MED/HIGH), and traffic estimate.
- Click the "+" button to save a topic to your backlog.
- From the backlog tab, click "Generate article" on any saved topic - this opens the AI Article Writer.
Topic categories you'll see
- Service + Location - pages that pair what you offer with a city or area searchers use.
- Neighborhood - hyperlocal angles for districts and suburbs in your service area.
- Defensive - content that answers cost, permit, and problem queries before competitors own the narrative.
- Comparison- versus and "best of" style topics where buyers are deciding.
- How-To - step-by-step guides that earn trust and long-tail traffic.
- Regulatory - compliance, permits, and rules-heavy topics that matter in regulated industries.
Tips
- Run a scan when you're starting from scratch, then rescan every 4-8 weeks to catch new gaps.
- The backlog persists across scans - new scans add to existing saved topics; they don't replace them.
- Topics scored HIGH difficulty are still worth writing if you already have strong local authority.
